The Dutch Society for Hematology (NVvH), founded in 1950, is the national organization of blood experts, approximately 470 physicians and biomedical scientists, working in the areas of patient care, research and education regarding diseases of the blood and the blood forming tissues.

The NVvH functions as a co-ordinating and umbrella organization for associations working in the areas of hematology. The co-ordinating function promotes the position of hematology regarding patiënt care, education and research and prevents fragmentation of the Dutch hematology. There exists a close cooperation with the sub-and sister organizations, including a representation on the board of the NVvH and by organizing joint meetings.
